I am an artist, vintage wrangler with three online shops, a gardener, a parent to two Dawg Boyz, one cat & an adult son with cerebral palsy. Thank goodness the cat is female.I started selling online five years ago with an art shop, and then went to selling vintage, which helps pay for art supplies and books.
I live in North-Central Kansas, spinning on the prairie in a nest lined with quail & pheasant feathers, guarded by huge cottonwood trees, serenaded at night by owls & coyotes.
Being isolated as we are has its pluses & minuses – we do what we can to stay amused & grouse quite a bit at the distance to cover for decent shopping (two hours one way).
I DO love the prairie and being in this state gives us driving access to Arizona, Colorado & New Mexico….
I love gardening, especially having a bee & butterfly friendly garden. I cook A LOT – Italian style is my favorite. I make wonderful soups & am teaching myself to make tamales.
We love camping. Kansas is a lovely state of rolling hills, canyons, river valleys (don’t let the views from I-70 mislead you) with prairie wildflowers, birds & many places to “recreate”.
We have a mini vineyard started – by the time my husband retires the vines will be producing enough to make wine for home. Before the prohibition, Kansas was the nation’s largest wine grape producer….
In art? I started painting family – working out some issues & questions I had with family history. Then, I got hooked on the 1960’s style abstracts. I think the 60’s were the “final frontier” in both fashion & art.Being an Abstract Artist – I wish I could relay to you all the depth of feeling, wonder AND frustration as I stagger down the path of exploring the interaction of color (paints), and use of items (spoons, spackle trowels, cloth) to apply paint. It is indeed “all about the journey”, not so much the final destination….
With selling vintage online? I truly believe in the pieces I offer – I really get a kick out of finding items & want others to have the opportunity to acquire these finds! And vintage hunting is my recreation - I have met some wonderful people across the states, the world, through the shops….
So, Great Enthusiasm – I am a textile junkie – I LOVE mixing stitching, cloth, thread, paper ephemera, recycled art for mixed media – I have even had pieces in Somerset Publications - and am wanting to get back to sewing in conventional & nonconventional manners. Being able to mix the visual & tactile is just fantastic….The community is one of the best tempered. The site is super easy to add listings to. And then there is the lack of listing fees and the response of Administration is fantastic! Kudos to all….I think the search attributes need some refinements/adjustments, plus Batch Editing would be greatly appreciated.
I utilize Twitter the most; I think Pinterest helps and I think blogging is very important.Absolutely join the Lifetime Plan – best value of any site….1) well, yes, making money at Making Art 2) able to go travel more 3) able go back to school – which includes math courses – I want to conquer some dragons from younger years & 4) be more content with my life….Tags: Featured Zibbeters, Sew Mrs P
