17. What's Your Favorite Medium?

What's Your Favorite Medium? - Zibbet's Community (function () {var cookies = document.cookie.split(';');var re = /^\s*xn_visitor=([^\s]*)/;var vc = '';for (i in cookies) { if (! by Lesley DeSantis on March 28, 2010 at 9:08am in Fine Artists On Zibbet Back to Fine Artists On Zibbet Discussions I'm not even sure I can choose an answer to this, but I thought it'd be a fun discussion to get started. Do you have a favorite medium or several media?

I'm partial to colored pencil and am diving head first into watercolors lately, which I'm really enjoying!

JenniferPermalink Reply by Jennifer on April 7, 2010 at 1:14pm I love colored pencil, too! I also enjoy oil pastel, acrylic, watercolor, pen & ink, pencil, linocut, collage, assemblage, mixed media, sewing, etc., etc... (not necessarily in order of preference)! Lesley DeSantisPermalink Reply by Lesley DeSantis on April 7, 2010 at 1:54pm It's so hard to pick, isn't it??

I want to get even better at watercolors. They're so fun and so portable. I have this little travel kit that unfolds and it's much less of an 'event' to get started if I feel like painting than whipping out my acrylic tubes, palette, etc. And washing brushes couldn't get much easier either haha

JenniferPermalink Reply by Jennifer on April 7, 2010 at 2:05pm Ooh, I have a travel watercolor kit, too -- one of my very favorite tools! It's W&N Cotman brand (http://tinyurl.com/y9tx9x7), but I refilled it with better quality watercolors. Now if I could only find the time to actually get out there and use it! :)

Lesley DeSantisPermalink Reply by Lesley DeSantis on April 7, 2010 at 2:07pm ooh that's the brand I have! It's not the exact same kit but close.

So handy for traveling or even just storing things neatly. Marlies HaseltonPermalink Reply by Marlies Haselton on April 13, 2010 at 2:56pm My favourite is collage/ mixed media on canvas but I also like making Lino prints. flaurenaPermalink Reply by flaurena on April 14, 2010 at 2:23pm I love oil paint, especially now that you can buy water miscible oil paints... I sometimes use metal leaf in my art, and I also draw in ink. Lesley DeSantisPermalink Reply by Lesley DeSantis on April 14, 2010 at 2:25pm Oh neat, Lauren. I've always kind of wondered how the water mixing oil paints are. Do they have the same feel as regular oils? I've never tried them.

Jaime BestPermalink Reply by Jaime Best on April 15, 2010 at 10:30pm I am an acrylic girl, hands down.
My 2nd favorite would be Photoshop (but that is mostly for fun). clp studioPermalink Reply by clp studio on April 25, 2010 at 6:17am I use a leather acrylic paint and a leather acrylic sealer for my bags and shoes. It works great on vinyl and canvas bags as well. It has a "flex" additive to help prevent against cracking and chipping. Unfortunately, there is no portability with it.

Frances DownsPermalink Reply by Frances Downs on June 22, 2010 at 1:18am Hi, just wanted to thank you for this picture. I am desperately trying to re-organize my "studio" (the dining room), and would love input/photos of how different artists stay organized. Thanks! artiste26Permalink Reply by artiste26 on June 23, 2010 at 8:13am I like working with acrylic paint ,and colored pencils,,although have worked with oils. ‹ Previous 1 2 Next › Page RSS
