Last week I offered some suggestions on how to spruce up your shop for the new year. One of those suggestions was to rearrange your Premium shop. Related to rearranging is reorganizing with the use of shop sections. Whether your shop is Basic or Premium, you can create an unlimited number of shop sections that are customized for your inventory. Making your inventory easy for shoppers to navigate will increase your chances of making a sale.
To create sections in your shop:
1. While logged in to your account, click the Sections link under Shop Set-Up in your My Zibbet.
2. Enter the name of the section you’d like to create.
3. Click the Save Changes button.
4. Continue entering and saving sections until you’ve created the sections you need. Please note that you can add more sections at any time in the future.
To place existing items in the sections you’ve just created:
1. Go to your Listings page.
2. Click the Edit link for the item you want to add to one or more of your sections.
3. Select the section from the drop down menu labeled Shop Section.
4. If the item can logically be listed in more than one of your sections, click the + Add Section link to select another section for this item.
5. When you’ve completed section selection for an item, click the Save Changes button at the bottom of the page.
Please note that the Create New Section option works intermittently. I recommend that you not depend on it to create new sections ‘on the fly’. Instead, create new sections as you need them by going to Sections under Shop Set-Up as described above.
A section will not appear on your shop front until you’ve added at least one listing to that section.
As you list new items, you can select sections from the drop down Shop Sections menu while setting up the listing.
To rearrange the order in which your sections appear on your shop front:
1. While logged in to your account, click the Sections link under Shop Set-Up in your My Zibbet.
2. Place your mouse pointer over the section that you want to move. Your pointer will change to a four-headed arrow.
3. While pressing and holding your mouse button, drag the section to where you want it to appear in the list of sections on your shop from.
4. Release your mouse button to drop the section into its new position.
5. Click the Save Changes button.
6. Repeat until you’re satisfied with the order.
To edit the spelling or name of a section:
1. While logged in to your account, click the Sections link under Shop Set-Up in your My Zibbet.
2. Double click the section that you want to edit.
3. Enter your changes.
4. Click the Save Changes button.
5. Repeat until you’re satisfied with the changes.
While Zibbet doesn’t provide an option for creating subsections, Claranne of Clarify offers a suggestion for how to create sections and arrange them so that it looks like there are subsections in your shop. Take a look at the Store organization discussion over in Zibbet’s Community Hub for details.
