Keeping Visitors to Your Shop Engaged

Selling your handmade, fine art, vintage or supply items is the reason you’re here. Keeping visitors to your shop engaged as they browse those items is vital. Here are three areas where you can avoid distractions that may cause your potential customers to become disengaged while in your shop.

Premium Zibbet sellers have the unique opportunity to install widgets on their shop’s front page. Adding widgets is a great way to provide information and links for visitors. At the same time, those widgets can be distracting and may cause your visitors to wander away from exploring your products. To reduce distractions, make sure that each widget you install serves a useful purpose. For example, if you sell internationally, a currency conversion widget is very helpful for shoppers browsing your shop. A variety of currency conversion widgets is available for you to choose from.

When naming products and writing descriptions, provide as much useful information about your products as you can. Make sure that descriptions are well organized. Double check your spelling and grammar by having a friend read your listings before you make them active. Poorly written titles and descriptions are frustrating to buyers and will likely influence their decision to purchase or not. Search engines such as Google look at item titles and descriptions when indexing–provide them with well written text rich with keywords that are spelled correctly using proper grammar.

I don’t believe that excellent photo quality can be overemphasized! Use clean, uncluttered backgrounds for your items making it easy for shoppers to see every aspect of your products. Learn to effectively use the settings on your camera. Two features that are of particular importance in creating excellent product photos are the macro setting for close ups and the white balance feature. Out of focus and under- or overexposed photos and poorly written descriptions make me question the quality of the product that I’m viewing and will send me packing every time!

Keep visitors to your shop engaged by avoiding distractions such as useless widgets on your front page, poorly written descriptions and photos that don’t show your items at their best. Shoppers are more likely to become buyers when they are fulling engaged in exploring your products.

Best wishes for much success on Zibbet!
