Yes, I know it's too early to think about it but..... As I sit here enjoying my first cup of coffee, I realized it is near the end of May. For some reason my thoughts turned to Christmas. Maybe it has something to do with the Christmas fabric that was just delivered to my workplace.
In 2010, several shops here on Zibbet participated in a Christmas in July promotion but we had a late start. If people would be interested in participating in a 2nd Annual Christmas in July Sale, maybe now would be the time to start making plans for our shops. Maybe Jonathan can place a Christmas in July Sale Gift Guide on Zibbet's front page too. (Yes, the gift guide has been approved!)
Great input from everyone, thank you! I think we have covered all areas needed to help us get this promotion started. If I have missed something let me know and I will add it below.
Some things for us to think about......
- Adding more inventory to our shops. These items do not have to be Christmas themed, just something that would make a great gift or a stocking stuffer.
- Get a Christmas banner for your shop, (if you don't have one) this is optional
- The type of sale you will offer - some ideas are free shipping, percentage discount, buy 1 get 1, etc...get creative with your sale
- The tag we will use - ChristmasInJuly (available to all shops)
- Consider creating a Christimas In July section in your shop (available to all shops)
- Premium shops can use the Christmas In July Gift Guide instead of tags if they prefer (Jonathan is working on creating this gift guide)
- This sale/promotion will be offered during the month of July, but each shop can decide on when and how long they want to participate. You do not have to participate the entire month, whatever works for you.
- How each of us will do our part to promote this sale, you know, how often and where (twitter, facebook, blogs, shop announcement, etc) Promoting is a key to success. Let's start promoting this sale a few days before July 1st but please continue during the month of July.
- In your shop announcement, mention a little something about this Christmas In July sale and how to go about searching for these great items.
- For those people who have scheduled craft fairs between now and July1st, print up a notice for this promotion and pass it out with your business cards. I have 2 shows coming up and I plan on doing this. Getting the word out :o)
- Let's start promoting this sale the last week of June and continue through out the entire month of July.
Remember, this sale promotion is open to ALL Zibbet shops. Items do not have to be Christmas themed.
