Hi Everyone my name is Gena of CreationsbyGena -specializing in glass art, Misc. Folk and collage art, Primitive crafts and More!I am a Proud Army EOD (Bomb Squad) wife, which my husband is now retired after 22 years of service..yeah and I am also a very PROUD Air Force and Coast Guard mom (if I had more kids, I am sure I would have the other branches covered too…LOL). When I am not supporting my family I am an altered art, mixed media, Folk art artist. As far back as I can remember, I’ve always been creating things. …just ask my parents. In School while growing up, I took many art classes and graduated from a 4 year vocational school for Graphic and Advertising Design. I had planned on having a career in Graphic Arts, but let’s say “things change” and for the best I must say.I like to work in different mediums and enjoy learning new techniques. I love to paint, and to craft things. “I hate an empty white wall, and think that the best way to defeat blankness is by making affordable art available to everyone.” It brings me great joy to share my love of vibrant, colorful, whimsical art and crafts with others, thus the reason for the many different items you will see my shop. You know, it was insanely hard to think of things I do that aren’t creating. I do love to get out when I’m not working on projects.
I like hiking, Mtn. Biking and Kayaking with my husband. I also love traveling and visiting friends and Family in FL. I wish I could see my Son and Daughter more, but the military has them in separate places: one is in NJ and one is in TX and I so cherish the times when I do see them.“My work is the result of a need to follow my creative spirit, to develop it and use it, and bring joy to my life and to those around me. In doing so I am constantly finding the same need in others. That is why I do what I do, and love what I do and I hope my work can bring a sMiLe to your face as it has mine!”Would it sound too corny if I said my husband? We were high school sweethearts and as far back as I can recall he has ALWAYS encouraged me to do my own thing and to be strong. I honestly have to say I look up to him and not because he is my hero, but for allowing me to become the person that I am and to do the things that I do and to be independent.
Well if you ask my Family and Friends they would most likely say; rearranging my house. LOL As I am always decorating, especially around the Holidays. I love to be with family and to bake, cook and go to the beach whenever I can. One great thing about Zibbet is that the administrators do listen to our concerns. The forums here are top notch with some of the best artisans anywhere. The ease of the Zibbet site as a whole is truly a delight (not to mention price). I was one of the lucky ones to grab a lifetime membership when they were offered and I tell you what…the other sites can not compare to my Zibbet. I look forward to our growth and Zibbet’s climb to being number one when it comes to selling venues!I would love to be able to offer “other payment options” to my customers upon checkout. However; due to the fantastic admin’s here, this will soon be available with the rebuild that I anxiously await for.
Oh, Let’s see; I try to stay active in the Zibbet forums and on other’s blogs. I also have a personal and a Fan page on Facebook; I also use Twitter, Flickr and my blog. I am a member of the McDonough Arts Council and I try and do local shows in my area when I can. I have to admit my friends and customers are my biggest advertisers as word of mouth travels (which I am completely grateful for). I would recommend getting a premium shop - As it is very affordable and has wonderful features to reflect designing your shop around you and your craft. You’ll also be surprised how much the Zibbet community will be a huge source of inspiration and encouragement.
Make something you would want to buy for yourself or someone that you love. If there is anything you can do to make your craft better, do it! Take pictures that you could be proud of, if they were hanging on the wall of an art gallery. Be sure that you are satisfied with the photos and item descriptions as this is your key to connecting with your buyers. Most importantly, Never ever give up! …still doing what I do now. I am forever learning and developing. Perhaps someday even teaching grandbabies to do something creative Tags: Creations By Gena, Featured Zibbeters
