Featured Zibbeter - RuthiesGirlDesigns

This week Zibbet would like to introduce you to Tina Omer of Ruthies Girl Designs. Tina named her shop for her mother Ruthie who was a crafty person who sewed clothes for Tina when she was a child.

Tina loves beautiful jewelry and specializes in baby shower invitations and unique greeting cards. She loves texture which can be seen in both her jewelry and her cards. We hope you enjoy this interview with Tina and after reading it you will use the Share Tools provided so others can enjoy her interview as well.

I’m a semi-retired attention challenged stay at home wife who’s the caretaker of a house full of moody cats and needy dogs. I’ve been crafting as long as I can remember. My first project was in the 4th grade. It was a 3D scene in a shoe box and you looked thru a hole in the long side for the effect. I got 2nd place in the art fair!

I am a fledgling “cat lady”, with 5 cats.  It’s not a very creative task, but the fact that they have been placed in my care for the duration of their lives is a blessing and a welcome stewardship.  I also like to take long walks in the park (oops wrong kind of interview!!). I love to rollerskate and love going to the gym (when I go!). I like to cook and try new recipes as often as possible. I tend to spend way too much time on line looking at youtube how-to videos and obsess over my Pinterest boards.

Beauty inspires me, whether it is nature or someone else’s work (not copying, just in total awe that they can do what they do!). I also love to try new things, which is why I am currently creating greeting cards, jewelry, handmade leather handbags, clothing, hair clips, pasties for strippers and did I mention jewelry?

I have to say, honestly, I look up to my husband, who suffers from ruptured disks in his back, as well as a few other ailments. He never complains, just keeps on moving, even on those days when things are tough for him.  He refuses to take anything stronger than aspirin, and never ever tells anyone no if they ask him for help.  He’s a shining example to me and to others who know him, and there isn’t a day that goes by that I am not proud of him.

I am passionate about my husband and my daughter, the shining stars in my life.

Zibbet is a great marketplace to sell handmade goods. I like how they work to maintain their integrity by staying true to that standard, as well as the friendly community that Zibbet offers. The members are the nicest online sellers I have ever encountered. EVER. I also love how administration is open to suggestions and even take polls to know what the members of the community would like to see. I also love how Jonathan and Jess are more than a photo and are active members in the community.

I’d love to see a new front page interface; I’d like to see who “faves” my shop, as well as open the venue to buyers who would like to remain anonymous when purchasing (not require membership to purchase at the site).

I promote my work on Facebook, Twitter, and pass out business cards locally. I also wear and carry what I sell always! I’ll be doing a few giveaways on my blog to hopefully create new interest  in what I do.

I would recommend them to stay active in the community, list often and keep their shop looking “fresh”.  I also think they should look at their items and be honest with themselves and tweak their work if they need it!  I think they should price accordingly (never undersell themselves or their ability) and have FABULOUS photos.

I’d like to be a skin-toughened by leather local riding a rusty bike with a basket on the front wearing a big straw hat and chanklas ( slang for sandals!) in the US Virgin Islands who happens to own the coolest little boutique on the island where I sell all handmade goods.  It would be my way of giving back and living where I’d like to spend my remaining days making and creating.  I don’t think that’s too much to ask for!
