Fantastic Five: Zibbet Spring Challenge Winners

On February 10th we announced this challenge on the Community Hub. Thirty seven Zibbet shops entered the challenge. Today’s Fantastic Five features the winners.

The challenge was to use some kind of trash or recycled materials incorporated into some form of art, be it, fine art, crafts, or a vintage item that was ready for the landfill or plucked from a neighbor’s trash. The end product was to be Spring-themed.

Be sure to see all the entries in the Zibbet Spring Challenge on Pinterest. Special thanks to the five Zibbeters who volunteered their time to be the jurors: Eleanor, Deni, Norma, Angela and Judy.

1. Spring Birdy Magnets by Bohemian Grove $7.50: This set of six bird magnets came in first place. They have strong magnets on the back and are made with styrofoam food trays and recycled scrapbook paper.

2. Cherry Blossom Hand Fan by Sewmantra $30: This cherry blossom fan is the second place winner. It is made of all recycled material: paper, bamboo, cotton fabric flowers, and soy inks.

3. Petal Perfect Reclaimed Denim Purse by Sunflowers by Design $42:  Tie for 3rd place. This bag was made with blue jeans rescued from the trash and green velvet from a thrift store. The lining was made with fabric from a curtain.

4. ReCycladelic Upcycled Pop Top Bracelet Pinwheel Bright by lanmom $5.70:  Tie for 3rd place. The bracelet was made from post-consumer recycled soda can pull tabs that were carefully cleaned and sharp edges rounded.

5. Spring Challenge Altered Art basket tin can made with recycled materials by Creations by Gena $15: Tie for 3rd place. The basket was made from a large green bean can, old torn up paper scraps, a shredded brown paper bag and used up paints from the bottom of paint jars.

Congratulations to all the winners and thanks to all who participated. Thank you all for recycling, repurposing, and reusing which makes for a better planet to live on.

Enjoy the first day of Spring tomorrow!!
