This week Zibbet is pleased to introduce you to Shona and her daughter Ashley of Garden Gate Botanicals. Shona offers you natural body products for women, men and babies. Her daughter makes the jewelry in her shop.
She lives in Montana where she manages her family homestead, raising food and putting it by. Please enjoy the interview, leave Shona a comment, and then use the Share tools so others can read it, too. Please share the Zibbet Love! Thanks.
Garden Gate Botanicals is a mother daughter created business. My daughter Ashley and I started making body butter in 2009. We wanted to formulate a natural alternative to the body butters readily available on the market. Once we started sharing our product with friends and family, we realized we had a viable product. With much encouragement from everyone we decided to start our business. Ashley has always had some type of art or craft project going, and that is how we added jewelry to our shop. We think of it as your one stop shop to all things girly. Ashley prefers to be my silent partner, she stays behind the scenes, lending a hand when I am feeling overwhelmed with orders. I stay at home to watch my 5-year-old grandson. My days are filled with entertaining a little boy, volunteering at his school, and caring for my family. I am very concerned with providing organic healthy food every day. I cultivate a garden, raise chickens, can and freeze as much of the garden as possible, sharing anything I cannot use. Every week I bake all our bread from scratch, make a batch of yogurt, and cook homemade wholesome foods for the whole family.
I love creating a product for people with like-minded ideas; people who are concerned with the chemicals being added to most products available to consumers. My two daughters’ first and foremost; we are very close to one another. My husband for being the kind of man who understands the special connection I have with my daughters. My beautiful grandson, who opens my eyes daily to the fantastic world full of wonderful things just waiting to be discovered.I am compelled to try to live a more sustainable life. I believe we all need to take a step back, and really look at our wants and needs. The focus should be on what we truly need to be happy, healthy, and productive beings. I have personally found that putting the focus on what we need, and not what we want, a life changing revelation.
I love Zibbet! It is a fantastic marketplace for individuals to set up shop. I love the community, everyone is kind and supportive of one another.I am very happy with the set up on Zibbet.
I could probably do better at promotion. To be honest I don’t find the marketing part of having a shop very enjoyable. I use facebook, twitter, blogging etc. I find myself using these tools sporadically at best. This is definitely an area needing more effort from me. Join the community, meet fellow Zibbeters. Zibbet shop owners are great about promoting each other.Living off the grid, in a modest cottage, sheltered by some piney woods. I would be raising a small flock of chickens, tending a bountiful garden, putting food by for the winter.Tags: Featured Zibbeters, Garden Gate Botanicals
