20. Enjoy life... it is not all work

Most of us know that life is not all about work but sometimes we need reminding that the precious things in life are not based around work or money but around the people we love.

Tuesday was my 50 something birthday! I woke up and one of the first things I did, was have a potential nasty fall directly onto metal steps outside on the cold and wet grounds. The edge of the steps just missed my spine by a centimetre (less than half and inch). I was so shocked and scared that I had done some serious damage to my spinal column, but once the shock wore off, I realized that I was very lucky to come away with a just nasty bruise and will be sore for a few days to come but no damage! Later on, my youngest son, who still lives at home, got up early and made my favourite breakfast. During the course of the morning, a few phone calls were received, wishing me a happy birthday, including my girls who live 60 minutes and 180 minutes away respectively. They informed me that I was to keep Saturday afternoon and evening free as they were taking me out for my birthday then. They would be in touch with me later with the final details. Lunch was lovingly cooked by my son yet again and then in the afternoon I heard the front door open and a few moments later in walk my 2 girls bedecked in giant ribbon bows - as my presents! What a delightful surprise. They both took time off work and were to stay overnight before heading home the next morning! (and I still get a night out with them on  Saturday too!) My darling hubby cooked up a fantastic meals for all of us including a 'adopted' son who also joined us. I received my gifts and we played games and just thoroughly enjoyed each others company!

My family members are my best friends and so precious to me. I love each one of them dearly and I know they love me! I really need to get a recent photo of all of us together! But here is one with my girls!
