Psst! I Have a Secret You Need to Know…

Have you ever wondered how Judy selects items for the weekly Fantastic Five article? Or how I select items to illustrate Success on Zibbet articles? Come closer. I want to tell you the secret…

Each Fantastic Five article presents items based on a common theme. For each Success on Zibbet article, I look for images of items that relate to the article’s main points. We start by searching Zibbet using keywords and phrases that describe the article’s subject. Here’s the first part of the secret: Use tags and titles for your items that accurately describe them.

Use synonyms whenever possible. For example, if you’re listing a catnip filled mouse-shaped cat toy, in addition to including cat and mouse, also include kitty and feline and rat and rodent as tags. However, don’t use irrelevant descriptors such as dog or canine just to draw someone into your shop hoping they will look at your dog toys. As I discussed last week, this is a form of keyword spamming and is likely to cause a shopper to leave without becoming a buyer. On the other hand, it would be appropriate to use the more generic tag pet for both cat and dog items.

As Judy and I search for items, a major consideration is quality of the photos of the items we find. That brings me to the second part of the secret: Many items are rejected because of poor quality photos.

In order for an item to be selected for one of our blog articles, the images must be top notch. Your item will not be selected if the photos you present are out of focus, poorly lit or distractingly composed. The size of your images is also important. I suggest that you upload photos that are the maximum size allowed by Zibbet. Rectangular images can be 800 pixels wide by 600 pixels high while square images can be 600 pixels by 600 pixels. We often have to resize images to meet specific size requirements. Making images smaller usually doesn’t decrease their quality. However, making an image larger often reduces its quality, causing us to have to pass on a wonderful item because the image is too small.

I know that there are a lot of fantastic items on Zibbet hiding behind really bad photos. Not only will excellent photos increase the chances of one of your items appearing in a Zibbet blog article, they will also make your items more appealing to buyers. Items from Premium shops randomly populate the nine photo spaces on Zibbet’s homepage. Poor quality images on the FP can make the entire venue look bad in the eyes of a potential buyer!

Now that you know the secret of how items are selected for Fantastic Five and Success on Zibbet articles, Judy and I will be expecting to find and use one of your great items soon!

Best wishes for much success on Zibbet!
