Hi everybody,
Getting pretty down about no sales or even any interest in my shop. I have a Twitter account, facebook and do as much other advertising as possible but still nothing. Is there anything anyone can advise to change my shop to get more visitors and interest in my items? Prices? Pictures? Items?
Any help would be much appreciated.
Best wishes,
Sarah

Your shop is cute ... I'm also new and have no sales here yet :(
I'll pass on some advice that was given to me I have a free account so I can only list 50 items I was told I should list as many as possible.
Since you only have 15 items I'm guessing people may want more to choose from, I have listed about 35 items and I have a PIF (Pay It Forward) listed too.
Here's wishing lots of luck,
Amy

? ReplyNo sales doesn't necessarily mean that you are doing anything wrong. Not only are we existing in a very down economy at the moment, we are also going into the summer season in the Northern Hemisphere when shopping isn't a top priority for a lot of people. With the kids out of school, people are spending on vacations and possibly childcare (for young school aged children). These are expenses that parents don't have the rest of the year. With that said, one thing that I observed is that you sell on another venue also, which is not a problem. However, what is a problem for search engines such as Google, is that your titles and descriptions appear to be identical for the same items on both venues. Google doesn't like duplicate content and will actually penalize pages for that, giving them lower page ranks and maybe not even including them on search results pages at all. We highly recommend that you alter both your titles and descriptons significantly (some say by at least 30%) to avoid the duplicate content problem.

? ReplyI would recommend you fill up your shop so that people have a variety of items. I would also recommend that you fill your shop welcome with key words (dresses, tops, etc). That is prime real estate for search engines to find you.

? ReplyI am fairly new here also and I havent yet made a sale. I just got to keep thinking positive about it. There is so many soapers and jewelry people out there. Just keep on trucking and hopefully things will pick up. Keep your head held high.

? ReplyI am still working on the SEO and marketing aspect myself, but I can comment on the design aspects of your store.
Banner- Background image is very cool, but is a little distracting. You could darken it with an image editing software so the reading will pop better. If you are familiar with photography terms, you could also do a reverse vignette under the areas with writing.
Colors- I know you're not a premium member, but if you ever are, get the green out. It clashes with your shops banner.
Product photographs- Very impressive. Shows the models in different positions similar to real life. The action photographs are great! I might add a photo graph of a detail here and there to give variety, but other than that your photographs are great. An additional note: Be careful with slanted shots. They can be fun and creative, but if you use too many, it can distract from your product. Your cardigan doesn't have a single horizontal shot.
Product Descriptions- seem good to me, but as I said I am still working on the SEO stuff my self.
Welcome- I agree with what was said about the Welcome. You mention on every item how to get custom clothing, so it's not necessary to be detailed about it in the Welcome. Think of your welcome as the first sentence in a really good novel. What can you say that will make a customer say, "I HAVE to see at what she sells."
I also noticed you have only had the account since April 11th 2011. It can take a while for your store to build momentum. More items and great customer service will encourage repeat business and referrals. Once you get the first few sales, make sure your customer feels like your store is the best place on Earth.
Well that's my penny's worth. I hope it helps.
Keep in mind there are exceptions to every rule. It would be great if there were one right answer. Some people have said that my jewelry blends into my background too much, but my customers have said they love my images. Who knows.
? ReplyWow, I didn't realize I had written so much until I saw it posted. Geesh
Your clothing are darling by the way.
? Replywordy is *good* when it's so much good advice Angela!
I've just been to look at your store too Angela http://www.zibbet.com/alternativechic and I have to say I don't agree about your photos blending in the background, I think they're great. I particularly like your quirky section sections BECAUSE you have explained them too. I've come across shops on etsy with quirky sections that I don't look in because I don't know what they mean. I love your bird necklace http://www.zibbet.com/alternativechic/artwork?artworkId=391432 and have stumbled your shop as I happen to be signed in to stumble for the first time in forever!
